In his discussion with Empress Skortcher on December 28, 2012, Fitzroy Francis shared insight on his early mingle in the reggae industry, the formation and success of his Mightyful13 Label, as he explained that reggae and dancehall artist Zanadu, the first to be recorded on the label is also part of the Mightyful13 Records. Fitzroy also spoke about the success of several of the songs he produced on his first two riddims compilations, "Mighty In Battle" and "Essence of Life" as both have reaped rave reviews on an international level with songs on both compilations topped reggae charts in Jamaica, the United States, and United Kingdom.
The "Mighty In Battle Riddim" project idea was conceptualize by Fitzroy Francis with inspired motivation from Fragga Ranks, Zanadu, Chrisinti, Shabba Ranks and his nephew Martin Nelson. The riddim was recorded at the Raw Moon Recording Studio. Drums by Doni Marshall, Bass and Keyboards by Daniel "AXEMAN" Thompson, and Guitars by Donovan G. Mckitty (from Steel Pulse). All voicing,recordings and mixing was done at Raw Moon Recordings and Pyramid Recordings Studio, and engineered by Phillip Smart and Shantalys Byfield. Harmonies by Debra Haynes and Valarie Kelly. Zanadu's "Trade Winds", is an adaptation of one of American great recording artist Lou Rawls.
The Essence of Life Riddim was composed in Jamaica. All tracks were mixed by Phillip Smart, at the Pyramid Recording Studio in New York. Bass and keyboard was donw by Daniel "AXEMAN" Thompson, and Drum, Lead & Riddim Guitars by Frank Stepanek. Artists on the riddim are: Michele Gordon - Essence of Life Zanadu - Whats Happening Now Chrisinti - Heart of a Champion Hefla Nyah - The Shepard.
Mightyful13 Records has signed International Reggae Artist Andrew Bees in a productions deal which commence with the recordings of two tribute singles to late legendary reggae singer Delroy Wilson. "Better Must Come" and "Cool Operator" are two timeless classics which Bee's has done a fantastic job covering. The first is currently in rotation on several radio stations and the latter is set to be officially released in February 2013.
Fitzroy Francis's Mightyful13 Records has sign a two years Worldwide Digital Distributions Deal with the iconic VP Records's VPAL(VP Associated Label Group) in New York.
